Travel writer and editor Sarah Riches’ has a meticulous eye for detail. She also has experience publishing on content management systems ranging from WordPress to Umbraco and Drupal,
optimising content for search engines with keywords and adding H1 and H2 headings, images and video, alt text, tags and a meta description.

Subbing and proofing
Sarah has a meticulous eye for detail, which she honed while subbing listings in InDesign when deputy editor for Time Out Abu Dhabi, Where London and London Planner. She has also subbed for Wanderlust and Wildflower and proofread the members’ directory for the trade association UKinbound.

Digital publishing
While digital editor of Wanderlust, Sarah published stories to the content management system Umbraco. Sarah also used WordPress while digital editor for Ski Club of Great Britain and Drupal to post listings for Where London and London Planner.
While studying the equivalent of an A-level in web design and social media with Netcom Training, Sarah learnt to source keywords from AnswerThePublic and Ubersuggest. Sarah inputs keywords in H1 and H2 headings, alt text and meta descriptions; and adds images, videos, internal and external links and a call to action.
Social media
As well as posting on TikTok, YouTube and Facebook @TheRichesOfTheWorld, Sarah managed Wanderlust’s social media accounts, scheduling 10 topical posts a day with a call to action and tags to tourism boards.

Copywriting
Sarah has also written tone of voice guides, blog posts, advertorials, newsletters and press releases for luxury hotel brands ranging from the Dorchester Collection and Rocco Forte Hotels to Jumeirah and Banyan Tree. She’s proficient in designing presentations, logos and social media calendars in Canva, podcasts in WavePad and videos in Adobe Express.
Mentoring and coaching
In addition to teaching English for five years in Asia, Sarah has hosted writing workshops for small groups, one-to-one writing sessions in person and on Teams, and a talk about travel writing to cruise industry marketeers on stage at The Times‘ headquarters.
