After five years living in Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan, travel journalist Sarah Riches studied a PTC-accredited post-graduate diploma in journalism at City St George’s University of London. She has enjoyed a 20-year career in travel writing ever since.
Following a stint in the Middle East as deputy editor of Time Out Abu Dhabi, Sarah became the digital editor of wanderlustmagazine.com and editor of World of Cruising.
She is also the author of two guidebooks, Culture Smart Britain and London Almanac.
As a freelance travel writer, Sarah has written for Conde Nast Traveller, Luxury Travel, DestinAsian, ft.com, independent.co.uk, adventure.com and horizonguides.com, as well as about ice skating in Arctic Sweden and rollerskating in Europe for National Geographic Traveller.
When she’s not travel writing, Sarah’s planning her next adventure – or on it. She’s passionate about expedition cruises, luxury travel and small group travel. She also enjoys crafts, museums and meeting Indigenous people in the snow, desert and jungle.
